Young children need plenty of physical exercise to develop and stay healthy. This is a great activity for young children to encourage them to get moving and best of all it can be done indoors or outside. You don't need a lot of space or complicated resources and it can be easily adapted for different ages and interests.

Instead of a list have a bag of animals or flashcards with pictures on animals on.
Listen to The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns and encourage your child to move like the animals in the music
Ask your child to think about how an animal on your list might move
- Can they move like that animal?
- Model it yourself if they aren't sure and describe the movement for them
- Can they change the movement? Faster or slower; low down or stretching up high?

- Ask the child to choose an animal from the bag or card from the pile
- This can be played independently or led by an older child instead of an adult
